Alors on Danse AI Meme Explained: The Stromae × Jamel Sketch Behind the Trend

Two people in a white studio: one taps seriously at a laptop and a tiny keyboard, the other claps, points, laughs and pushes their face into the camera, all to Stromae's "Alors on danse". Here is the story behind the Alors on Danse AI meme.

The origin: a sketch, not a making-of

Stromae released "Alors on danse" in 2009. In 2010, French comedian Jamel Debbouze included a scripted sketch on his comedy DVD "Made in Jamel": in a white studio, Jamel pretends to "teach" Stromae how to write the song on a laptop and a mini keyboard. Because it looks like behind-the-scenes footage, it is often mistaken for a real making-of (MakeViral, Summrs).

How the trend came back

• 1 June 2026: the sketch resurfaces on TikTok and reaches 10.1 million views and 793,100 likes by 10 October.
• Late September 2026: the first AI version appears, recasting two well-known AI company CEOs in the roles.
• 3 October 2026: @kennyslowbird posts an AI parrot version: 805,700 views and 64,600 likes by 10 October.
• 5 October 2026: Italian comedy duo Marta e Gianluca post an AI version with their own faces (101,800 views), and #alorsondanseai appears the same day.

Football players, film characters and pets followed.

Why it works

The comedy is in the contrast: one person is completely serious about a song that barely needs a keyboard, the other is having the time of their life. Any pair with a clear "worker" and "hype person" dynamic fits.

4 ways to recast the sketch

1. Boss and employee. The intern does all the work, the boss takes the credit.
2. Couples. One partner plans everything, the other provides the enthusiasm.
3. Cat and dog. A dog on the keys and a cat on hype is the most shared pet version.
4. Wizard or anime cosplay. Costumes make the deadpan contrast even funnier.
